If you know that you could choose your emotions. Would you ever want to feel bad? Sure, you wouldn’t want to feel happy.. all the time..or so my old psychiatrist said.

But not many people know that they can be emotionally free. You can get fired up when you need to be. You can be grateful most of the time. Why not be happy, no matter what?

So apparently the majority of us just let emotions happen. Usually we just do what we are used to. We keep doing it over and over.. re-acting rather than choosing how to be.

We have free will to become a better version of ourselves. And it’s through free will and responsibility that we find true power.

The servant-leader is servant first… Becoming a servant-leader begins with the natural feeling that one wants to serve, to serve first. Then conscious choice brings one to aspire to lead. That person is sharply different from one who is leader first… The difference manifests itself in the care taken by the servant first to make sure that other people’s highest priority needs are being served. The best test, and the most difficult to administer, is this: Do those served grow as persons? Do they, while being served, become healthier, wiser, freer, more autonomous, more likely themselves to become servants?

But wait! Not everybody can name the emotion they are going through. People who didn’t have any help learning about your emotions when you were young… Often end up very well… immature.

Using the system above, see if you can change your emotions toward anything which makes you feel bad.

Just change your

  • behaviour or even just your posture (don’t be fighting)
  • and your thoughts and what you are saying about the thing which got you emotional.

doing so will change your emotions.

  4. Get confident that you can handle emotion
  5. Forgive your emotional triggers
  6. See the bigger picture
  7. Take action

So as an activity if you want to reach leadership, serve. Help give people options about how to think about situations that bother them. Changing the way they think about it, will make them feel different toward it and behave in a different way as well.

Eventually, this can boost the emotional development of others. New self-images will be formed, which they will be proud of. This is called “Giving a dog a good name.” Exercise your free will.
